5/30 Bike Ride on East Coast Park

Now that baseball and softball are done we have our Saturdays back!! We went to East Coast Park and rented some bikes and went for a ride. The kids had a lot of fun (so did we)! Ryan and Emily tried out the double bike. Emily did pretty good - there was only once where she almost fell off. We rode our bikes out onto the Jetty and saw a lot of people fishing and checked out the boats. There was a nice breeze and actually didn't feel too hot!

5/29 The Me I AM

Jacob had a wonderful show about being the ME I AM!! He was one of the neighbors and really enjoyed being on stage. After his show we went back to his class and he showed us his class hamsters - Obama and McCain. It was his turn to take care of them. He was very proud of his job and loved showing us how he took care of them. What a wonderful day with Jacob!!

5/24 Lunch and Swimming at the American Club

We had a great Sunday afternoon sitting poolside. Had lunch and watched the kids go on the water slide. Curious George was visiting our house for the weekend and he had a great time ... although he forgot his shades so he had to borrow mine. :)

5/23 Date Night!

Ryan and I went out for a date night and supper with friends at an Australian Restaurant by the Esplanade Theatre. Near there is the little Merlion (the National Symbol of Singapore). Both of these are so beautiful when they are lit up at night. After dinner we went to Howl at The Moon Piano Bar which was so much fun!

5/23 Last Baseball/Softball games of the season

We had a great season of baseball and softball. Lots of hot Saturday mornings spent up at the school. For the last day of games Emily and Jacob were able to play their games but by the time Andrew's game time arrived so had the pouring rain and lightning. We tried to to wait out the rain but it seemed never ending so we moved to cafeteria for the end of the season party.

5/22 Student Led Conferences

At the end of the school year the kids had student led conferences. They were so proud to show us the the things that they have learned since arriving at Singapore American School. We spent time with them in their classrooms doing activities and they showed us their portfolios. There is a picture of the Gurka Guard that is posted outside of the school. These guards are armed and are placed at the entrances of the school. (Since I am behind in the blog I will let you know that as of June 1 the guards are no longer there). It is so amazing how well the kids have adjusted to the new school and how much they have learned!
